I am a teacher who understands the importance of high quality lessons, consistent learning, and a personal connection with your student. Allison provides all of this while providing continual support and flexibility with her student. She is always available when we have a question, has always been able to adjust our lesson times to work around our busy and ever changing sport schedule, and sincerely cares about her students growth and development. We have thoroughly appreciated all she's done for our daughter over the past four years. 

Allison taught three of my children for several years. We were sad when she moved (my kids still miss her!). She met them where they were, challenged them in kind ways, and really helped them develop into talented pianists! She helped find songs and methods that worked for my son, who wasn't motivated on his own to practice. Her positive energy and phenomenal skills make her a wonderful teacher! I highly recommend her.

Allison has been a blessing to our family. After trying to find my son's "thing," we decided to give piano lessons a try. I cringed the first session as he plinked out sounds with two fingers. There was no apparent talent in the beginning. But Allison never gave up on him. She's patient, has methods that work, and provides students with the confidence they need to keep trying. Music lessons are worth investing in. With her guidance & instruction, my son has now found a hobby, an artistic expression, gained music appreciation, and believe it or not, he is now writing and performing his own compositions. I never believed he would have gotten to this point during the early lessons. Listening to him play has provided me hours of enjoyment. I highly recommend working with Allison. She has both content knowledge & strong teaching skills.

I had already had a background and a love for music going into this semester and into this music course. However, this class had put a fire back into the embers that were left for my music drive. It made me pick my instruments back up and re-find my love for music of all genres. I have a newfound appreciation for music and that is large in part to the pianist and teacher in this recital Dr. Ernst. This recital feels like a love letter to us students and I think I speak for everyone when I say this. Thank you Dr. Allison Ernst.

Dr. Ernst has a passion for piano and music theory that's apparent in her teaching. Her patience, commitment, and passion have truly made learning piano a fun and engaging experience. She has not only helped me improve in piano, but has supported me to have greater confidence in other classes by providing insight that would help me solidify concepts that overlap. Dr. Ernst has been one of the absolute best instructors I've had in my three semesters at Vol State. I'd love to be able to take additional courses with Dr. Ernst. It's clear that she's a master of music and has opened my eyes a great deal this semester to how great learning music can be. She's provided amazing structure and patient instruction. My only highlight of improvement is that she teach more classes at Vol State. 

Her timely delivery of the course materials and her extensive knowledge of the material as well as her obvious love of the music and the obvious preparation she did prior to class helped my learning the most.

I finished all of my homework and tests in the class so that I could give the final my all. I really studied my notes and the language used in your lectures. Thank you, Dr. Ernst, for all your hard work in our class.
